Travel Checklist when Travelling with a Baby

It can seem overwhelming when it comes to packing for a fun-filled holiday away, even if it is a staycation and especially with a baby in tow. Spills and little accidents everywhere!

However, it can be truly worth it as a family holiday is a great way to spend some time with your loved ones in different surroundings and create lots of lovely memories. So, fear not (and stress less) as we have you covered with all the essentials you need when travelling with a baby.

What to put in your Travel Bag:

- A foldaway travel changing mat

- A selection of bibs

- Muslin cloths

- A spare change of clothes for your baby

- Change of clothes for you (in case your baby spits up or is sick)

- Ziplock bags to store wet or soiled clothes in

- Teethers such as the Matchstick Monkey mini monkey teether help to keep baby occupied! The BioCote® Antibacterial Protection on Matchstick Monkey teethers helps to keep germs at bay while travelling. Soother clips are a great way to keep teethers in place

- Age-appropriate snack foods

- A favourite toy or an engaging book

- Antibacterial wipes or baby-friendly antibacterial solution

- A multi-use product holder from Matchstick Monkey will ensure that you do lose any teethers, bottles or toys along the way, especially when in the pram

- An extra few pairs of Nappies

- Any infant medicine if required

- Two bottles (if you use them)

What to Pack in Baby's Suitcase:

- Clothes, socks, or shoes: Pack at least two outfits for each day in case changes need to be made, plus a few extra ones. Layers of natural fibre such as cotton are your best friend if travelling to a hot climate

- Sun hat with a brim to cover your baby’s face

- Nappies and wipes

- Swim nappies for the pool or beach as they do not absorb as much water as normal nappies

- Suntan lotion of at least SPF (sun protection factor) 30 and make sure it is effective against UVA and UVB. Babies under 6 months should be kept out of the sun completely

- A first-aid kit: Pack any medications your baby might need - bandages, antibiotic cream, and your GP’s number

- Sleeping bag or comfortable pyjamas

- Infant nail clippers (if you are away more than a week) – nails tend to grow quicker in the heat

- Breast pump, plus storage for milk; or formula

- Any baby food you may require (you are allowed to take over 100ml of this!)

- Portable cooler and ice packs

- A bottle brush

- Nappy cream

- Baby wash for bathing

- Lightweight stroller or baby carrier

- Car seat (Even if you're not travelling by car!)

- Nighttime monitor (if your baby will be sleeping in another room)

Finally, tech is your friend on the go! Remember to take your charger and an extra power bank.

Happy memories everyone!
