Travel Checklist when Travelling with a Baby

It can seem overwhelming when it comes to packing for a fun-filled holiday away, even if it is a staycation and especially with a baby in tow. However, it can be truly worth it as a family holiday is a great way to spend some time with your loved ones in different surroundings. So, fear not (and stress less) as we have you covered with all the essentials you need when travelling with a baby.

What to Put in your Travel Bag:

- A foldaway travel changing mat

- A selection of bibs

- Muslin cloths

- A spare change of clothes for your baby

- Change of clothes for you (in case your baby spits up or is sick)

- Ziplock bags to store wet or soiled clothes in

- Teethers such as the Matchstick Monkey mini monkey teether. The BioCote® Antibacterial Protection on Matchstick Monkey teethers helps to keep germs at bay while travelling

- Age-appropriate snack foods

- A favourite toy and an engaging book such as the Matchstick Monkey ‘Colours’ book

- Antibacterial wipes or baby-friendly antibacterial solution and a cloth

- An extra few pairs of Nappies in case of accidents

- Any infant medicine if required

- Two bottles (if you use them)

What to Pack in Baby's Suitcase:

- Clothes, socks, or shoes: Pack at least two outfits for each day in case changes need to be made, plus a few extra ones.  Pack cool clothes if travelling to the heat and vice versa

- Sun hat with a brim to cover your baby’s face

- Swim nappies for the pool or beach as they do not absorb as much water as normal nappies

- Suntan lotion of at least SPF (sun protection factor) 30 and make sure it is effective against UVA and UVB. Babies under 6 months should be kept out of the sun completely

- A first-aid kit: Pack any medications your baby might need - bandages, antibiotic cream, and your GP’s number

- Sleeping bag if they sleep in one or comfortable pyjamas

- A multi-use product holder from Matchstick Monkey will ensure that you do lose any items along the way, especially when in the pram

- Infant nail clippers (if you are away more than a week) – nails tend to grow quicker in the heat

- Breast pump, plus storage for milk; or formula

- Any baby food you may require

- Portable cooler and ice packs

- A bottle brush

- Ziplock bags to store snacks

- Nappy cream

- Baby wash for bathing

- Lightweight stroller or baby carrier

- Car seat (Even if you're not travelling by car!)

- Portable feeding seat (if your baby is sitting up and eating solids)

- Nighttime monitor (if your baby will be sleeping in another room)

- Playmat

- Nappies and wipes

Finally, do not forget your camera to capture all those wonderful memories of your family holiday! Remember to take your charger, an extra memory card, and make it a holiday to remember!
